Both seasoned and budding entrepreneurs are turning to crowdfunding to start or grow their businesses. According to Entrepreneur magazine, there were over one-million successful crowdfunding campaigns in 2012 that raised over $2.7 billion. Pepperdine LABS presents "Crowdfunding Your Dream Business Into a Reality," an in-depth two-hour lab revealing the do's and don'ts of crowdfunding. Key takeaways from this lab include:
  1. What is crowdfunding and is it a good fit for your business?
  2. An overview of the available platforms
  3. How to create great rewards and price effectively
  4. Timing and tax implications of your campaign
  5. Do's and don'ts case studies

Our guest lab instructor is Audra Quinn, MBA ‘13, who successfully funded UNCORKED!, a wine-tasting board game she invented on Kickstarter. She is the CEO and cofounder of UNCORKED!, while maintaining a full-time job as a digital writer/editor for a large wealth management company.

Lee Sachnoff of Kutak Rock, LLP will discuss how startups and established companies need to rely on professional advisors to organize and operate their businesses. In addition to attorneys and accountants, companies can gain valuable help from insurance brokers, benefits advisors and IT support. After building a team, a company must manage its professionals and consultants to maximize the benefits it receives from its service providers. This presentation will discuss which advisors you need, what benefits they offer and some tips on how to manage them.
