Join the Leadership Society for one of Pepperdine's first and most exciting events of the year! Watch the Los Angeles Dodgers play one of their final games of the season against the Colorado Rockies and cheer them on as they head into the NLDS! As an added bonus after the game, there will be Friday Night Fireworks!

As like past events organized by the Leadership Society, we will also have a brief meet and greet prior to the game with a few members of the Dodgers' front office staff.

Tickets are $35 for Leadership Society members, $50 for non-members.

This private event will commence promptly at 5:00PM, so it is imperative that all attendees be present and ready to go well beyond that time. For the sake of commuting, traffic, and parking, please plan to arrive by 4:30PM. CARPOOLING IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED!

After our meeting, we can enjoy legendary Dodger dogs, nacho helmets, garlic fries, and more until game time at 7:00PM!

The DBS presents a new breakfast speaker series, The Legal Café. These events are informative presentations on specific legal topics by Denver attorneys for company executives.

Topics for this event include medical and recreational marijuana, amendments to the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act, the Colorado Family Care Act and a Colorado statute that imposes new restrictions on an employer's use of credit reports to evaluate applicants or employees, among others.

A light continental breakfast, coffee and juice will be served. The event will be limited to the first 60 registrants. Parking is located in lots to either side of the Denver Press Club, or walk from your downtown office.

Red Letter Revolution Book Groups

Students, faculty and staff are invited to join in reading Red Letter Revolution and meet authors Tony Campolo and Shane Claiborne. This series of three book discussions and meals is sponsored by the Center for Faith and Learning, Convocation Office, Office of the Chaplain and International Programs. Dates and details are as follows:

1) Wednesday, September 17, 8:30-9:30am: have breakfast with Tony Campolo
2) Wednesday, October 15, 11am-12pm: have lunch as a small group with other students, faculty and staff to discuss the book
3) Wednesday, November 19, 11am-12pm: have lunch with Shane Claiborne

Participants will receive a copy of the book and free meals at each session.

Three convocation credits will be awarded to undergraduate students who attend ALL THREE sessions (no credit will be awarded for attendance at only one or two sessions).

Both seasoned and budding entrepreneurs are turning to crowdfunding to start or grow their businesses. According to Entrepreneur magazine, there were over 1 million successful crowdfunding campaigns in 2012 that raised over $2.7 billion. In the next Small Business Breakfast Series, we will be discussing best practices for launching a successful crowdfunding campaign.

This event is the next in the Small Business Breakfast Series (SBBS) coordinated by Pepperdine's Graziadio Alumni Network of Los Angeles in conjunction with the Small Business Development Center. The ability to predictably secure internal referrals is a fundamental skill for both job seekers and new hires. In this workshop, Fuqua career coach and The 2-Hour Job Search author Steve Dalton offers an exact process – rather than a series of tips – for effectively turning strangers into advocates, leading to more interviews and better internal networks.

This workshop provides an alternative to online job posting “black holes” by turning the difficult topic of networking into something finite and replicable. To create this process, Dalton drew upon the latest science, ranging from behavioral economics to operations theory to social psychology to splitting networking into its three component parts: prioritization, outreach and informational interviewing. Each will be discussed to help job seekers harness a highly-curated list of technology to get the right job faster.
