Negotiation is an essential skill for any effective HR professional. With often-limited resources, HR is involved in various negotiations (either with employees or between various parts of the organization) that are vital to the organization’s success and operation.
In this interactive presentation, you will learn:
the characteristics of different negotiation styles;
how to diffuse conflict during the negotiation process; and
tips and tricks for dealing with difficult personalities in the workplace.
Your Presenter
Karinya Verghese is a commercial mediator, ADR trainer and conflict resolution consultant in Los Angeles, California. Prior to that, Karinya practiced as a senior corporate lawyer in Sydney, Australia. After becoming increasingly frustrated with her clients spending millions of dollars on needless litigation, Karinya pursued a career in mediation and alternative dispute resolution. She undertook intensive study of negotiation at Harvard University and has since coached corporate executives and lawyers in negotiation and mediation skills. Karinya obtained her law degree at the University of Sydney and holds a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Dispute Resolution from the prestigious Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine Law School, where she is also the Institute’s Research Fellow. Karinya relishes the challenge of helping people resolve their disputes and is passionate about humanizing corporate conflict so that it is dealt with in-house rather than escalating to litigated cases.
