Over the past several years, the national conversation about race, inequality, and power in the United States has grown in both urgency and intensity. Across the country, the resurgence of grassroots movements and protests serve as a unavoidable indicator that the social and economic forces that create, perpetuate, and exacerbate inequality, which date back to this country's founding, still exist today. In our rapidly changing social landscape, what skills and competencies do nonprofit organizations and businesses need to have to achieve deeper impact and promote positive social change? This session presents a case study of a foundation’s journey to adopt an equity stance, and enhance its capacity to address the intersectionality of race and poverty through a series of OD interventions. The session also engages participants in a series of interactive dialogues to develop awareness of implicit bias and to generate deep reflection on how to adopt an equity lens in our work regardless of which sector we work in.
