Marketing: Owner of the Brand

P.T. Barnum. Ray Kroc. Mary Kay Ash. Steve Jobs. Kim Kardashian. What do these historic figures have in common? Each took risks to pioneer and establish the underlying principles of marketing.

This presentation examines marketing’s role in the organization, as an intermediary between product development and sales. By identifying the differences between product marketing and marketing communications, we will explore how corporate marketing demands product/service ownership and an understanding of the customer's needs and desires. Marketing’s role in controlling communications between a company and its customers, and its interaction with a number of facets within a company, make it a thrilling position for those who enjoy variety and have a skill for translating needs into captivating messages.

When you finish this session, you will be able to:
  • Identify the differences between product marketing and marketing communications
  • Comprehend the responsibilities and drivers of those in marketing leadership roles
  • Understand the strategic vision and day-to-day tasks required by those in marketing functions
