Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 2 – 3pm
Pepperdine Libraries is pleased to partner with Pepperdine Graziadio Business School's Institute for Entertainment, Media, and Sports for an exclusive opportunity to hear from one of NYU’s most popular professors, David Hollander, JD, about his one-of-a-kind humanities course and book, How Basketball Can Save the World: 13 Guiding Principles for Reimagining What's Possible. The talk will include an introduction by Alicia Jessop, associate professor of Sport Administration (Seaver College), and conclude with a Q&A.
Here is what fans are saying about Professor Hollander’s new book:
“Professor Hollander makes the case for basketball as a philosophy–as a required subject like math, science, history or literature. I'm ready to get my PhD.”
- CHARLES BARKLEY. Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee, NBA MVP + 11-time All-Star
“Ball is life. This book tells us how and why.”
- MARK CUBAN. Owner of Dallas Mavericks and Mark Cuban Companies
"If we are going to think and act in new ways about inclusion, gender and equity, then we need new ideas and new language. Professor Hollander shows us how basketball is that new way and that new language."
- NNEKA OGWUMIKE. WNPBA President and WNBA Champion, MVP, 7-time All-Star
